Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asked the his government officials to speedup construction of millennium towers in Tirupati, Vizag and Anantpur. Speaking at a review meeting on IT promotion and development, and e-governance the chief minister directed the Information Technology Department officials to plan for the development of the three districts as the best IT hubs in the world.
“The government is prepared to allot land for the development of IT sector in these three cities”, Naidu said on Friday, according to a The Hindu report. He also instructed the officials to initiate deliberations with world’s renowned IT companies and to encourage small industries and start-ups with innovative ideas.
Naidu had earlier said that he would like to replicate his signature hi-tech cyber Towers of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. Three cities — the port city Vizag, the temple town Tirupati and Anantpur in Rayalseema was selected for the construction of millennium towers while several other signature towers were announced in other districts including Amaravati. The biggest of them all will be the Millennium Towers with a built-up area of five lakh sq ft in Madhurawada in Vizag. The government is yet to finalize the site for the tower at Anantapur, while the Tirupati tower will come up near Renigunta airport with a built-up area of one lakh sft.
The Chief Minister further instructed the officials to educate IT companies around the world about the IT Single Window Policy in Andhra Pradesh. He ordered immediate digitisation of services in 133 Government departments and said the government was in a continuous dialogue with the Union government for establishment of a separate telecom circle for A.P.
