Celebrations to commemorate the 608th birthday of saint-poet and ardent devotee of lord Balaji commenced in Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati on Saturday.
“Annamacharya succeeded in bringing social awareness to the masses over six centuries ago through his outstanding sankeertans,” said Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust Executive officer D Sambasiva Rao.
Speaking on the occasion the EO said that Annamacharya wrote over 32000 kritis and out of that 14000 krits are available. The SV Recording Project of TTD has composed and recorded about 1700 songs of the poet so far. He added that the Trust will continue to record more songs with upcoming artists in the future.
The EO also said, TTD has been conducting the Jayanthi and Vardhanthi Mahotsavams of Annamacharya at Tirupati, Tirumala and also in Tallapaka every year in a befitting manner.
Meanwhile, the prestigious Annamaiah Pataku Pattabhishekam programme designed by TTD Trust board member K Raghavendra Rao and composed by renowned music director MM Keeravani will be telecasted on SVBC between 8pm and 10pm on May 21 and 22. This program will be telecast every week in future.
