TTD is all set to celebrate RAMANUJA SAHASRABDI ON MAY 10.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) is all set to celebrate Ramanuja Sahasrabdi, the thousand birth anniversary of  the Vaishanava Saint Ramanujacharya. The even commencing from May 10 will be a befitting celebration of the life and contribution of the 11th century saint who pioneered the Bhakti movement and preached equality in society.
Ramanujachary, who lived for 120 years, is known as the scholar and philosopher of Vaishnavism within the Hinduism. He articulated the Vishisthtadviatha that demands equality in front of the almighty, irrespective of caste, creed and prosperity in the society.
He revived many temples and refined temple practises and traditions to root out social evils like untouchability and had also prioritized the puja kainkaryams in Tirumala temple.
While reviewing the mode of celebration and preparation parts, The Executive Officer of TTD, on Monday said, “a Ratha Yatra has to be performed in all the 106 Sri Vaishanava Divya Desams which are located throughout the country.
Later he instructed the officials to avail printing of new books and reprinting of 28 books on the life history and other interesting episodes in the 120 years long span of the great saint. “The SVBC should relay special programmes on Ramanujacharya, sapthagiri should initiate special edition and regular lectures on the works of Ramanujacharya should be organised by the Vedic Varsity”, he added.
. speaking about Ratha Yatra he said, “Along with the statues of Lord Venkateswara and Consorts, a statue of Ramanujacharya should also be taken in a procession to all the Divya Desams. Kalyanam of the deities may be performed in some divya desams notifying the clusters”.
