The Lord Venkateshwara of Thirupathi Devastanam is all set to get the five crore worth gold ornaments promised by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The ornaments — a Kantabharanam and Saligrama haara is ready and the offerings will be made by the chief minister in person in this month along with his cabinet and people from all ten districts of the newly carved state.
Rao, in February this year had claimed that he had vowed to offer gold to different temples if he succeeded in his mission to bifurcate Telangana from Andhra Pradesh. The Telangana government in February decided to pay the pledged Rs five crore worth gold from the public funds.
The tender to make the gold ornaments Kanthabharanam and Swarna Saligrama Hara which weigh about 16 K.G in total was granted to Coimbatore-based Goldsmith Keerthilal Jewellers on February last week.
Thus the cabinet ministers, MLAs and people from as many as 10 districts of Telangana will be paying visit to the TTD by this month to donate the golden laces. Rao is expected to fly to the hill temple, while his cabinet along with as much people as possible from 10 districts of Telangana are expected to reach Tirupati in a special train
